At Deaf & Hear Alberta, that is the future we are working to build.
For more than 65 years, we have worked alongside Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, and hearing Albertans to advance communication access through advocacy, accessibility, education, employment initiatives, and community leadership.
We believe communication is fundamental to participation. When people can access information, conversations, opportunities, and services, they are better able to contribute, connect, and belong.
As we celebrate our 65th anniversary, we are looking to welcome up to three additional Board members who share our commitment to a more accessible and inclusive Alberta.

Why Board Service Matters
Creating lasting change requires leadership.
Board members provide strategic direction and governance that help ensure Deaf & Hear Alberta remains strong, sustainable, and positioned to seize new opportunities.
They also serve as ambassadors for the organization by building relationships, raising awareness, and connecting us with donors, sponsors, community leaders, and partners who share our vision.
These relationships help broaden our reach, strengthen our sustainability, and increase our impact across Alberta.
A Province-Wide Opportunity
Few volunteer opportunities offer the chance to contribute to an organization whose reach extends across an entire province.
From large urban centres to rural communities, Deaf & Hear Alberta works to create a future where communication is not a barrier to participation.
With only six virtual meetings per year, Board members can participate from anywhere in Alberta while contributing to meaningful change that reaches far beyond their own community.
