Mental Health Support – Counselling Services
Mental health is important for everyone. Sometimes we need help in finding new ways to make life easier and remove the stressors in our lives.
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 1 in 5 Canadians will experience mental health issues in their lifetime.
Mental health affects all of us, young and old, rich and poor, all cultures, every disability, from coast to coast.
Do you need a counsellor to work through personal struggles and life issues?
Deaf & Hear Alberta is grateful for receiving funding from United Way for the “Mental Health Support” program and have contracted H.O.P.E Inc to offer counselling services in American Sign Language.
To confidentially reach out for counselling in ASL, contact H.O.P.E. Inc – Dee Dee Kay directly to book an appointment at deedeekay@shaw.ca or phone/text: 403-403-605-9536.
NOTE: DHA will not be provided with the names of clients accessing services directly from H.O.P.E.
If you do not wish to go through H.O.P.E. Inc. and would like to use another counselling service, you need to contact Cindy Pilz, Manager of Deaf Services who will confidentially help refer and arrange for a subsidy to your preferred counselling service.
Your privacy is guaranteed in asking for mental health support and will be respected at all times.
Please note: The fund is only for Calgary & Area residents.
If you are wanting to learn more about Counselling Services available through the Mental Health Support program, please contact Cindy Pilz: cindyp@deafandhearalberta.ca and she can help you.
